Mitchell High School junior Shalynn Klunder has her face covered in alginate as her fellow classmates cover it with gauze to hold the material together as she has straws coming out of her nose so she can breathe while being covered. Students from Mrs. Marica Shannon's sculpture class and Mrs. Melissa Vatter-Miller's drama combined to make face casts of fellow students. After the alginate dried, it would then be carefully removed from the student's face and then the mold would be cleaned up and filled with plaster and left to dry. Alginate is the same material dentists use when making molds of their patients teeth. (Matt Gade/Republic)
